Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Government of India under its flagship program Technology Centres Systems Programme (TCSP) with World Bank assistance, 15 new Technology Centres (Earlier known as Tool Room and Training Centres) at various parts of the country are in establishing state at an estimated project cost of Rs. 2,200 crores. MSME Technology Centre Imphal is one amongst these 15 new TCs. This Technology Centre will be first for the state of Manipur and whole North East with focus on Aromatic and Medicinal plants with a target of becoming a Centre of Excellence in Aromatic and Medicinal Plants in North East India.

The Foundation stone was laid by Shri Kalraj Mishra, the than Union Minister of MSME, Govt. of India in gracious presence of Shri Giriraj Singh, the than Minister of State MSME, Govt. of India on April 09, 2016 with FFDC Kannauj to serve as mentor TC. Government of Manipur has allotted 05 acres of land at Food Park, Nilakuthi, Imphal East District for the establishment with infrastructure of the Centre including administrative building, quality assessment laboratory, processing and value addition of medicinal plants and essential oils, training hall, hostel and herbal garden etc. MSME TC Imphal has been registered under section 7(1) of Manipur Societies Registration Act, 1989 (Manipur Act. No 1 of 1990) on 5^th September, 2018.

MSME TC Imphal is in its advanced stage of establishment to provide end to end technical support: Agrotechnology – Market linkage with focus on Medicinal and Aromatic plants (MAPs) for transforming job seekers into job givers utilizing locally available bio resources in the form of MAPs. Apart from this, the MSME TC Imphal will also work to serve, sustain and upgrade the status of farmers and industry engaged in the aromatic and medicinal plant cultivation and its processing, so as to make them competitive both in local and global market.
