Ministry of Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSME) Government of India under its flagship program Technology Centres Systems Programme (TCSP) with World Bank assistance, 15 new Technology Centres (Earlier known as Tool Room and Training Centres) at various parts of the country are in advanced stage of establishment at an estimated project cost of Rs 2,200 crores. MSME Technology Centre Imphal is one amongst these 15 new TCs. This Technology Centre will be first for the state of Manipur and whole Northeast with focus on Aromatic and Medicinal plants with a target of becoming a Centre of Excellence in Aromatic and Medicinal Plants in Northeast India.
MSME TC Imphal was handed over to the Nation by the then Union Minister of MSME Shri Narayan Rane on 14th February 2024 to provide end to end technical support: Agrotechnology – Market linkage with focus on Medicinal and Aromatic plants (MAPs) for transforming job seekers into job givers utilizing locally available bioresources in the form of MAPs. Apart from this, the MSME TC Imphal will also work to serve, sustain and upgrade the status of farmers and industry engaged in aromatic and medicinal plant cultivation its processing and value addition to make them competitive both in local and global market.
1. Serve, sustain & upgrade the farmers, entrepreneurs & industry in the field of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants in North-East Region.
2. Dedicated to demand driven approach for development of essential oil & herbal extract industry.
3. Act as interface/bridge between Research & Industry & related farmers.
1. Provide analytical services for quality assessment of raw materials and products made therefrom.
2. Help the industry to develop modern fragrance & flavor blending techniques
3. Help to modernize the production of essential oils by providing process and engineering designs and demonstrating on its pilot plant improved technological processes.
4. Loan its pilot facilities to industrialists for extraction and distillation of experimental lots of plants.
5. Develop and demonstrate on its farm improved agro-technological practices and introduce improve varieties of planting material.
6. Disseminate information about recent national and international R & D in the field; arrange seminars, workshops and training courses, provide consultancy services.
7. Provide trained manpower to industry by organizing short-term training courses & P.G. Diploma in Aroma Technology
8. Assistance for Intellectual Property Rights like – Trade Mark, Patents etc.
